Perhaps you’re a few drinks into the evening, maybe you’ve just had a big meal. You need a pick me up. Yes, you could call for the drink designed to ‘wake you up and fuck you up‘; if you’re at Maybe Sammy, they do have an excellent Espresso Martini on the menu.

But then again, you might like to broaden your horizons — the Harlem Shake we’ve got here is what you’re after.

It’s cognac, coffee and Amaro Montenegro — that all makes sense, so what? Well, it’s the lick of ginger syrup they add to the mix that enlivens this drink, giving it a lift and a little kick.

  1. Shake all ingredients together and strain over good ice in a chilled Old Fashioned glass.
