Here are the Australian bars on The World’s 50 Best Bars in 2025

The annual caravan of The World’s 50 Best Bars has taken over Hong Kong this past week, with scores of takeovers, guest shifts, and brand events taking place around the city. And there’s a sizeable Australian contingent here, with bartenders from The Waratah, Byrdi, Old Love’s, Cantina OK!, One or Two, and Above Board all dishing out drinks to bartenders from around the world.

And to the main event of the week has just concluded, with the announcement of The World’s 50 best Bars 2025 at a gala event on Wednesday night in Hong Kong.

Two Australian bars have landed on the list this year (down from three in 2024), and both bars have become a regular fixture on the world stage.

Melbourne bar Caretaker’s Cottage makes its third straight appearance, landing at 19 and having previously been at 21 (in 2024) and 23 (2022).

And Sydney bar Maybe Sammy marked its seventh straight appearance on The World’s 50 best Bars list, a feat unmatched by any other Australian bar, scoring the 41st spot on the list.

The award for Best Bar Design went to Sydney bar, Bar Tigra & Disco Pantera.

The number one bar on the list this year is Bar Leone in Hong Kong!
