IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ARCHIE ROSE

In our winter issue of Boothby magazine — you can sign up to get each issue delivered to your door here — we take an in-depth look at Archie Rose Rye Malt Whisky, with their head of sales, Trevor Hannam.

And we also take a look at how to use this distinctly Archie Rose style of whisky in cocktails, with a couple of drinks drawn from the much-missed bar, The Everleigh, and its cocktail book by Zara and Michael Madrusan, A Spot At The Bar.

In A Spot At The Bar, the Meteor is what you get when you make a rye Manhattan and add absinthe. Get the specs below.

Meteor recipe

In A Spot At The Bar, the Meteor is what you get when you make a rye Manhattan and add absinthe.

Ingredients:

  • 60ml Archie Rose Rye Malt Whisky
  • 30ml sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes of absinthe
  • A cherry, or a lemon twist to garnish

Method:

  1. Put 60ml of Archie Rose Rye Malt Whisky into the mixing tin.
  2. Add the vermouth next.
  3. Then dash in your absinthe.
  4. Stir briskly with ice until the drink is very cold.
  5. Strain into a properly chilled cocktail glass, garnish with a twist.
