What a night it was.

I’m beyond overwhelmed by the turnout and the atmosphere in the room on Tuesday night, as we gathered together for the first annual Boothby Drink of the Year Awards at Double Deuce Lounge in Sydney.

Just, wow. Around 70-odd of the bar world’s best were in the house for some great drinks served up by the Double Deuce team (and generously provided by our sponsors — Patrón Tequila, Orlando, and The London Essence Co.) and to cheer on the countdown of the Boothby Top 50 Drinks of the Year 2022. Bartenders from Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne and Canberra travelled to join their colleagues from Sydney for an exclusive celebration of the bartenders and the drinks that make this country such a good place to drink at. It means so much to me that you all made it to the event.

You can take a look at the ranked Top 50 right here, and find out who took out the three big awards of the night: the Drink of the Year presented by Patrón Tequila, the Drinks List of the Year presented by The London Essence Co, and the People’s Drink of the Year presented by Orlando.

The 50 best drinks at Australian bars in 2022 are right here.
The Boothby Drink of the Year Awards are a celebration of how we drink right now.

We’ve got a load of photos from the night below, and we’ll be back to regular programming next week.

Thank you again to everyone who helped bring the Awards together: our sponsors, Patrón Tequila, The London Essence Co., and Orlando; the Double Deuce Lounge team; the great shooter that is Christopher Pearce; Brynstar for the music; the judges on the Boothby Advisory Panel; and a special thank you to Lauren Barbato for keeping the train on the tracks and pulling off a great show on the night — thank you to you all!

The Boothby Drink of the Year Awards will be back next year.
