After three successful years in the eastern states, we’re bringing the Boothby Best Bars awards program to South Australia for the first time — and nominations are now open.
This is the fourth year of the Boothby Best Bars program, which recognises the great bars in each state that are making things nicer for the rest of us. Great bars speak to a time and place, and the big idea behind the Boothby Best Bars program is to get a better view of how we drink right now.
And for the first time we are coming to South Australia and putting a light on the great bars in Adelaide and around the state. We are asking you to tell us which bars are making great drinks, offering a great experience, and getting the hospitality right, whether they’re in the cities or the regions.
The Boothby Best Bars awards are about recognition on a state by state basis — but they are also about putting on a great big hospo party to celebrate the industry.
So we’ll be doing just that, at an exclusive invite-only party on Sunday 14 June — the first day of Bartenders’ Weekender, which you can learn more about here — at The Stag Public House in Adelaide, when we count down the Boothby Best Bars SA Top 30 and give out seven major awards:
- South Australia All Time Great presented by Club Suntory;
- Person of the Year South Australia presented by Jack Daniel’s Bonded;
- Best New Bar in South Australia presented by Bacardí;
- Best Hospitality Team South Australia presented by Campari Academy;
- Best Bar Eats in South Australia presented by Estrella Damm;
- Best Cocktail Bar in South Australia presented by Perrier;
- and the Best Bar in South Australia presented by Never Never.
Nominations are open now. It takes only one nomination for a bar to be considered in the next round of voting by the South Australia Boothby advisory panel, and — for the first time this year — by paid Boothby members.

- Sunday 3 May: Nominations open. Anyone can nominate — it takes just one nomination to be considered in the next round of voting, multiple nominations do not give any more weight. Self-nominations are encouraged. Nominate at the link here or in the form below.
- Monday 11 May: Nominations close at 11:59pm AEST.
- Tuesday 12 May: Boothby advisory panel voting begins.
- Friday 22 May: Advisory panel voting finishes.
- Monday 25 May: Invites to the Boothby Best Bars Awards South Australia are sent out to representatives of the Top 30 bars.
- Sunday 14 June: Save the date! The Boothby Best Bars SA Top 30 — and seven major award winners — will be revealed in Adelaide at an invite-only event during day one of Bartenders' Weekender.
