Over the course of September and October, bartenders from bars across Australia answered the call to put their best drinks forward to be considered in the fifth annual Boothby Drink of the Year Awards.
The result? Some very fine drinking from some very fine bartenders. Our Boothby selection panel has assessed the entries — more than 200 this year, from Darwin to Canberra and everywhere in between — and found the 50 drinks that best showcase how we’re drinking in 2026.
And now it’s over to you. You can have your say on your favourite drink — voting is open for the 2026 Boothby People’s Drink of the Year presented by Club Suntory. Take a look at the drinks below, then hit the vote button under the one you love most — voting closes Monday 16 November.
Below, organised in alphabetical order by the name of the drink, are the Top 50 Drinks of the Year 2026.
So what happens next?
At the same time that public voting takes place for The People’s Drink of the Year presented by Club Suntory, the Boothby advisory panel of more than 200 voters will also be casting their votes for the ranking of the Top 50.
Each of the bartenders with a drink on the Top 50 is invited to the Boothby Drink of the Year Awards on Monday 30 November at Acapulco El Vista in Circular Quay in Sydney for the last dressed-up celebration of the industry for the year. RSVP, save the date, and book your flights.
At the awards night, we’ll be counting down from 50 to 1 the Drinks of the Year, and awarding seven big awards along the way: The Drink of the Year presented by Bacardi; The People’s Drink of the Year presented by Club Suntory; Bartender of the Year presented by Glenfiddich; Breakout Bartender of 2026 presented by Hendrick's; and Drinks List of the Year presented by Belvedere Vodka. We also have two new awards this year: Martini of the Year presented by Sunchaser, and Non-Alc of the Year presented by Re'al.
